Piecing Time With Kay!

One of my very good friends Kassandra came to visit with me for two days before she continued her road trip down to TN for school. We did many fun things like have a Dr. Quinn marathon, pancakes for dinner, shopping, barbecue together, look through soprano music, watch Cinderella, and of course, do this puzzle while watching the movie. I forgot how similar we are and what it's like to be around someone else who is as fast-paced, or faster, than me! I love that we still laugh together on similar pitches and sigh at the same time. Many of our reactions are the same, and we love to get excited. "Holla!"

Dr. Quinn

So I finally hopped on the band wagon with the roommates and started watching Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman. I say that not because I didn't like the show. In fact, I remember watching a few episodes with my mom growing up and loving every minute of it. It definitely appeals to my fancy to the old west and settling new territory, a similar intrigue as Little House on the Prairie.

My hesitation in watching the movies with Meg and Evie before is that I knew I would fall to this level of little self restraint and obsession with watching the entire series, and that is exactly what has happened. I may or may not have stayed up a couple hours after getting home from work and watched two episodes in a row. I may or may not have spent most of today spending time with Kay and Evie finishing about 7 episodes of Season 1.

Although I'm not a big advocate for television shows, I must say that this show is bringing up very good ideas for me to think about: moral issues, level of standards, family, love, ambition, etc.

Can't wait for the next episode!

In Bloom

I am finally reaping the benefits and beauty from the little seed I planted.

His Eye Is on the Sparrow

  1. Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
    Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
    When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
    • Refrain:
      I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
      For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
  2. “Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
    And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
    Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
  3. Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
    When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
    I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
    His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Psalm 19 New King James Version (NKJV)

Psalm 19

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
         And the firmament shows His handiwork.
 2 Day unto day utters speech,
         And night unto night reveals knowledge.
 3 There is no speech nor language
         Where their voice is not heard.
 4 Their line[a] has gone out through all the earth,
         And their words to the end of the world.

         In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
 5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
         And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
 6 Its rising is from one end of heaven,
         And its circuit to the other end;
         And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
         The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
         The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
         The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
 10 More to be desired are they than gold,
         Yea, than much fine gold;
         Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
         And in keeping them there is great reward.

 12 Who can understand his errors?
         Cleanse me from secret faults.
 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
         Let them not have dominion over me.
         Then I shall be blameless,
         And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
         Be acceptable in Your sight,
         O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

Birds of Paradise

I used to really not like the Bird of Paradise plant. To me they looked ugly and rigid and pointy, erring more on the side of an "evil" flower versus the pure good-natured rose. Mom had a few of the big bushes (bigger than the one above) in the backyard when I was growing up, tucked back in the corner by the fence. It wasn't until I began school at Gordon College and moved away from this tropical plant that I began to appreciate its beauty and unique design. I love how brightly colored they are. And instead of pointy and sharp, I more importantly see these flowers as expressive and calling of attention. They can say to their admirers,
"Spring up, look out! I'm here and not following the stereotypical floral beauty, but love me and cherish me for my bright and creative way of living. I know that my life is good and naturally I am an individual flower, surrounded by others of my kind, but if you put me in a vase with different flowers, my beauty shows just as strong and often complements the other buds around me."
